I searched and searched for it and could not find that piece of paper. I know all about this- I had my favorite bike stolen several years ago (not in Boulder) and I thought I had the piece of paper with the serial number. Stolen bikes are rarely recovered, but when they are it is through the serial number. You can easily register your bike your local law enforcement agency like and nationally with the National Bike Registry and 529 Garage. We find out if a bike is stolen by checking the serial number on the bike, which is usually stamped into the frame on the underside of the bottom bracket. We want to give owners of the abandoned bikes (and other items left behind) ample notice to remove their bikes before the county disposes of any bicycles. Bikes are only to be stored for up to one month at a time or they could be tagged for removal and disposal. Abandoned bikes and other items left behind are clogging up the shelters.

The bike-n-ride shelters were built to provide secure and weather-protected bicycle storage for commuters making connections to and from local or regional transit routes. Several users have informed us that there are numerous bicycles and other items that have been in the shelters for months.
